CHRISTMAS HAMPER APPEAL 2017: 159 HAMPERS DELIVERED TO 516 PEOPLE, AND NEW TOYS TO 206 LOCAL CHILDREN
It was a long few weeks for our volunteers, but the last Christmas Hamper was delivered at 2pm on Christmas Eve in what has been our busiest year ever. We received more nominations for assistance than ever before, and our Committee had great difficulty in trying to select the recipients.
This Christmas we have delivered 159 Christmas food hampers locally to people in need, and this has helped to feed 516 men, women and children. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and our association with the Cool FM “Mission Christmas” toy appeal, we have given a very full black bin bag of brand new toys to 206 local children who may not have been receiving a present to open on Christmas morning otherwise.
This year we have had the most amazing and humbling support from our local community, and we thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. You have enabled us to make Christmas happen for so many people, and you should all be very proud of yourselves for that.
We owe a special thanks to the following:
Sandra, Stephanie, Jill and families for their Secret Santa activities, the Forde, Kinnersley and Sim families for packing the hampers, Sandra, Stephanie and Rebecca, Rebecca, Aaron, Aisling, Nicholas, Alana and Stephen for the help with deliveries, the Portadown Cares Committee and volunteers, and to all our customers and supporters who donated food and toys to us.
Local clubs, schools, businesses and individuals who donated food, toys and money: Shelbourne Motors, Gilford Van Hire, Tandragee Junior High School, Lisa Wallace, 5th and 6th Dromore Scouts Lurgan, Bank of Ireland (Portadown branch), the Lord Mayor, Portadown District Royal Black Preceptories, Hannath Estate Agents, Zio’s Restaurant, Portadown Christian Centre, Kerry Foods, Tayto, Chapman Farm Fresh, Wille & Morgan Mac, Edenderry Primary School, Simply Fruit, Moy Park, Supershop Annagh Bridge, Irwin’s Bakery, Rock The Runway, and every single person who donated time, money or goods to our Appeal – we couldn’t have done it without you!
